Representing Sri Lanka at the first Multi-Cultural Buddhist Association in the Republic of Korea, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Korea, Dr. A. Saj U. Mendis, participated as a Guest of Honor at the Inaugural Conference of the Association organized by the Jogye Order, which is the largest and most revered Buddhist Order in the entire Republic of Korea. The Jogye Order has over 3,000 Buddhist Temples under its patronage. The Chief Monk of the Jogye Order too was present at this gala Ceremony. Whilst congratulating on this timely and fitting initiative of the Multi-Cultural Buddhist Association, Ambassador Dr. Mendis appreciated the role conducted and executed by Dr. Thalgamuwe Dhammakitti Thero, particularly in the context of expatriate Sri Lankan nationals, as the first President of the Association. The Ceremony consisted representatives from over ten Buddhist countries, under the unstinting support and cooperation of the key Buddhist Temples in the Republic of Korea. Ambassador Dr. Mendis emphasized and underlined in his congratulatory remarks that Sri Lanka would be an indispensable and seminal partner of the Korean Multicultural Association and placed on record the altruistic and philanthropic  contribution extended by the sacred Jogye Order for the betterment of the peoples of all nationalities and faiths in the Republic of Korea.
