Most Venerable Katuwana Vijithawansa Priest, Chief Thero of Sri Lankaramaya Temple in Daegu, Republic of Korea, has extended a special invitation to Most Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero to visit South Korea and deliver sermons, with particular focus, to the Sri Lankan migrant workers who are domiciled in South Korea. Ambassador of Sri Lanka, Dr. A. Saj U. Mendis too was invited to participate at the Ceremony, in which, Most Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero delivered a Special Sermon to Sri Lankan migrant workers in the region of Daegu at the Sri Lankaramaya Temple.

Most Venerable Katuwana Vijithawansa Priest requested Ambassador Mendis to address the large gathering of Sri Lankan migrant workers at the Temple in the presence of Most Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero. Dr. Mendis spoke in length of the expectations of the newly elected Government and the country and more importantly stressed and emphasized the contribution extended to the economy of Sri Lanka by the migrant workers. Further, Dr. Mendis enunciated the migrant workers to be economically and financially stable and successful in South Korea, thus enabling them to return to Sri Lanka and engage, particularly, in commercial and entrepreneurial ventures of different disciplines and domains. Ambassador Mendis accentuated the fact that financial and economic independence whether it is an individual or a nation is critically vital and seminal for success.

During the discussion, along with the Most Venerable Buddhist Monks, Dr. Mendis urged the migrant workers of Sri Lanka to abide by the law of the land by not excessively consuming alcohol and engaging in gambling and other illicit activities, amongst others. After the address of Dr. Mendis, Most Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero delivered the sermon and was followed by informal interaction with the migrant workers of Sri Lanka. It may be stated that a large number of Sri Lankan migrant workers and Sri Lankans living in Daegu and other regions were extremely delighted and were deeply privileged to interact and to be able to speak with Most Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero since the Most Venerable travelled to South Korea only for a period of one week, despite the extremely tight schedule of Most Venerable Gnanasara.
