Seoul Metropolitan Government Honorary Citizenship for
Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake
The Mayor of Colombo Rosy Senanayake was awarded with the “Seoul Honorary Citizenship” by the Mayor of Seoul Metropolitan Government Park Won-soon at a special ceremony held at the Mayor’s Office in Seoul on 12 December 2018. The citizenship awarding ceremony was held during the Mayor Senanayake's visit to the Republic of Korea to attend the "International Forum on Transforming Cities for Decent Work 2018" organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government from 11-12 December 2018. During the meeting, the two Mayors discussed possibilities of strengthening cooperation between the Seoul City and the Colombo City.
Mayor Senanayake also addressed the Forum as a guest speaker on 11 December 2018 on “City’s Efforts to Create a Sustainable Work Site”.
The Seoul City and the Colombo City have exchanged policy dialogs at different occasions, since the two Cities signed the Friendship and Cooperation Agreement in 2016. In November 2017, Mayor Park as the President of the CityNet visited Sri Lanka to participate in the CitiNet Congress hosted by the Colombo City.
Chargé d' Affairés of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Republic of Korea Jagath Abeywarna, Senior Advisor to the Mayor of Colombo Nirupa Karunaratne, Secretary-General of CityNet Vijay Jagannathan, Ambassador for International Relations Yim Geun-hyeong and Director General of International Cooperation Bureau of Seoul Metropolitan Government Kang Pil Young also participated in the meeting.
Mayor Senanayake was supported by the Charge d' Affairés of the Embassy of Sri Lanka and the Embassy staff during the visit.
